JAKARTA – Unlike its competitors, Samsung and Huawei are competing to enliven the folding screen cellphone market. Apple is actually reportedly making a cellphone with a dual screen format or dual screen.
Quoting Ubergizmo, Tuesday, June 16, the company from Cupertino, United States (US) is reportedly working on a prototype of a new iPhone model that has a dual background. This was first noticed by Jon Prosser, a tech enthusiast who shared the news via Twitter.
Apple’s “foldable” iPhone isn’t really a foldable. 🧐 The current prototype has two separate display panels on a hinge. Round, stainless steel edges like the current iPhone 11 design. No notch – tiny forehead on outter display that houses Face ID.

Technically, Apple has been working on foldable phones for a long time. But it’s not clear whether Apple will adopt a folding screen phone design like its competitors Samsung and Huawei or dual screen devices like the LG v50 and Surface Duo from Microsoft.
However, Prosser explained that this Apple prototype has a rounded stainless frame design like the iPhone 11. There is also a screen panel without notch on this Apple device.

On the other hand, it is certainly not surprising that Apple wants to try the folding screen mobile market like its competitors do. Moreover, Apple did register a patent design for its folding screen smartphone to the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), since 2019.
In this patent document, Apple succeeded in developing a new hinge feature, so that it can overcome the problem of wrinkles or creases (crease) which appears on the foldable screen phone.
Based on a rough sketch, it shows Apple carrying two separate screens joined together in one hinge mechanism. This design is certainly different from the folding screen products on the Samsung Galaxy Fold, Huawei Mate X or Motorola Razr which use one flexible screen so that it can be folded.

“Apple always makes surprises that are rarely known to people, so you never know if the company will launch a foldable phone soon. Because they are always working behind the scenes,” said Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak in an interview to Bloomberg.
So, when did the company from Cupertino, USA, dare to show off the original design of its folding cellphone? Unfortunately there is no definite answer. We’ll just wait for the development.
